Truck or Treat

Our church had our annual Truck or Treat. Since both of our hubbies were unavailable, I invited Rebecca and her crew along. She handed out the candy and I herded 4 preschoolers and carried Lily through the parking lot for candy. After that we did what Lutherans do best, we ate. Thanks to the church men's group and boy scouts for cooking a lot of awesome food and to everyone who brought food.

A Mighty Fortress is Our God!

Today is one of my favorite church days, it is Reformation Sunday. It is a reminder of what it means to be Lutheran and in celebration we wear red (and who doesn't love red!) It was a great service and thanks to Pastor for a wonderful sermon on unity. I took a picture of the girls all dressed up. These are the dresses I got for the wedding we are going to in a few weeks and hopefully Christmas, if they don't get too much taller.

15 months

Lily turned 15 months yesterday. In the last month she had a movement and "vocabulary" explosion over the last month. She now clearly says "Mama" "Dada" and "Jena". Less clear are "Thank you" "Dollie" and "Hershey". But she is definantly starting to get it. She is still not walking "independently" but she runs with her walking toy. And while she continues to be a happy baby, she has started to display a temper and has learned the "joy" of time out. Right now it is in her bumbo seat, which she has a hard time getting out of. It is a trial sometimes, but she is learning. She loves to go to Parents Morning Out two times a week with Ms Katie and Ms Judy and they say she is such a joy to have there. She got her first flu shot last week and was a trooper, she cried less then Jena who got the mist!

Mommy, Elmo's a juice box.

Jena decided Elmo was a juice box after she put him in the paper cover for one of her movies. She also said this would be Elmo's Halloween costume. What will she think of next?

Conversations with a 3 year old

The latest installment of Conversations with a 3 year old has gone high tech. Enjoy!

Go Big Red!

The Nebraska game is on ESPN tonight so we actually get to watch it! It is at 9, so the girls will be in bed. But I couldn't resist dressing them up in their Husker gear (courtesy of Aunt Sharon!)

It is that time again...

It is October and time to go pink. In past years I have talked about my grandma who died of cancer. This year I have a friend that is fighting this disease. She amazes me with her strength and positive attitude. And I pray her and her family everyday. So I want to remind everyone to do your self exams. We are of the age now where it is important to do this. Being aware of our bodies is the first line of defense. And if you are over 40, get a mammogram one a year. If you are over due, you know who you are, make an appointment for one today. The best offense is a good defense. Early detection is the key as 80% of women with breast cancer have no family history of the disease.

My Food Lion trip

I was shopping today at the Food Lion 3 day sale, complete with shopping list, sale ad and cloth bags. I usually get mocked for my shopping (usually by my hubby). I've had people role their eyes at my coupons and bags. But today when I was checking out a woman behind me asked how much the potatoes I bought were. "1.99" I told her, for a ten pound bag. Then she heard my total, 54.05 for a cart full (see above, I saved just as much as I spent). She was stunned and asked "Anything else on sale you'd like to share." So I gave her my sale ad and told her about Couponmom.com. I felt so proud I took the picture when I got home.
