Conversations with a 3 year old

You have to live in the South I think to clearly appreciate the humor of this conversation. Today in the car Jena was counting Lily's teeth (4). Then she asked how many she had. I told her 20, she has all of her teeth. Then she asked if I had all of my teeth, I said pretty much. They pulled all 4 of my wisdom teeth, but I don't count those. So later when we were at Lowe's Jena was talking about teeth again. And in a nice load voice said, "Mommy, you have all your teeth!" Like that is a great accomplishment. But then again, sometimes down here it is!

It ain't easy bein' green!

Happy Earth Week. Sorry, I missed posting Earth Day yesterday. I hope everyone took time to reflect on what they do to help the environment. All it takes sometimes is one thing.

We try to do our part here. I switched to cloth shopping bags after we moved to Fayetteville. At the time the city did not have curb side recycling, the recycling centers didn't take plastic bags and neither did the stores. So I started using the cloth bags to do my part. And all over town I have been mocked for it. Once, last year after Earth Day, by a customer behind me in line! I've had cashiers refuse to use them at Walmart (where I bought the bags!) I have to remind them of this and tell them to use the bags or put the food back. Food Lion and the Commisary are the best about using the bags without complaint. But I continue at some stores to get "the look."

So, almost two years later, we have curbside recycling. And while the city still does not recycle plastic bags, Food Lion does now. Another point for Food Lion.

9 Months

Lily turned 9 months on Sunday. She had her check up yesterday and is 13 lbs 11 oz and 26.6 inches long. She is crawling and has 4 teeth! Which help her to eat just about anything we put in front of her. She is very strong, so I imagine she will be pulling her self up soon.
