A time to remember

The girls and I spent this week in Discovery Canyon. That was the theme for Vacation Bible School this year. Jena had a great time learning all the different Bible stories. And I was teaching, but got some learning in too. One of the boys in my class, Gideon, told me one day that he was excited because his dad was coming home that day from 18 months in Afghanistan. Just one of the many reminders that while we are here enjoying the summer and getting ready for the 4th of July bar be ques, many people are doing so with a loved one far away in harms way. So, remember this year the people fighting and working in this war.

We think of and remember daily: The Krebs, The Gordons, The Cashes, The Cavallaros, The Harts and the Morrises. Soon we will add the Moores to the list as well.

11 months!

Lily is 11 months today! She is still eating everything in sight and growing like a weed. She is enjoying her week at the beach.

She did it!

Jena is finally potty trained! About a week ago something just clicked and she started going without being prompted and stopped have accidents all the time. In the last week we have had 4 accidents, and most of those were in the first few days. She wears her underwear all day now, with out plastic pants! So, after over a year of hard work, she finally did it.

Mommy, where is heaven?

Jena is at the age where she asks A LOT of questions. She is starting to put things together and is starting to ask the questions we knew would come, but were never sure how to answer. These are the questions about our parents that are no longer with us. See, our girls only have one living grandparent, my mom. Death and heaven are hard to explain to a 3 year old.

The conversation starts off simply enough.

Jena: Your my Mommy and your name is Michelle. And Roger is my Daddy. Mommy, who is your mommy?
Me: Well, that is your grandma.
Jena: Mommy, who is your daddy. (now the tricky part)
Me: My daddy is your grandpa and his name is Rodney. And he is in heaven.
Jena: Mommy, where is heaven?
Me: Heaven is where God is.
Jena: Is it nice there?
Me: I hope so.

We have shown her pictures of her grandparents and keep telling her about them. But she keeps asking these same questions. Sometimes to me and sometimes to Roger. Hopefully she will understand soon and we will learn from this for when Lily asks the same questions.

Long time no post!

Sorry its been awhile since I've posted. We have been very busy here. The girls are doing great and growing everyday. Here are a few pictures.

The Nelsons came over to our house for a change and we had a great day. The girls dressed up like princesses for the day.

Caden, always the knight in shining armor, here with our princess. Caden held his own as usual with all the girls. Thank goodness Jena has power tools and airplanes!

Here are the girls, getting ready for blast off from the play room. Jena has really been into astronauts and space since around her birthday. She commandeered this storage box and declared it was her space ship. Hey, for 6 bucks we have a space ship. Works for me!

Uncle Ben, Aunt Kayleigh and cousin Colton came to visit. We went to the zoo with them. Everyone had a good time.
