We had quite a week as we traveled to and from Denver for my cousin's wedding. This was us at the airport in Fayetteville getting ready to leave. This also marks Lily's first plane trip. For our seasoned traveler, Jena, this marks her 3rd vacation in which she traveled by plane. Roger was quick to point out to Jena that he was 18 before he ever set foot on a plane when the Army sent him to California. I was 12 for my first when I went to Florida to visit my uncle and cousins. So, the girls are way ahead of us on traveling.
Jena was very excited about flying in an airplane. This is the first time she got her own seat and she loved looking out the window and seeing all the things below us.
We were quite a site walking through the airport with the kids and all of our stuff.
Here we are on the train in the Denver airport. Very tired from a cross country trip. Jena loved riding on the train. I think that was her favorite part of the trip.
At least Lily could get a nap. I wish I had gotten a picture of the minivan we rented. It was cool. I thought we may not get it because the woman at the rental place kept trying to give us an SUV. The conversation went something like this (keep in mind she was probably about 25)
Her "What did you reserve with us"
Me "A Dodge minivan"
Her "Ug, why?"
Me "I have 2 kids, 5 people total." I pointed to my family, Lily clearly in a car seat.
Her "Oh, I see. Would you like a Suburban for a little more?"
Me "No, thank you. Just the van please."
Her "I'll give it to you for the same price."
Me "A Suburban is really big and I'm not from Denver. So, I'd like the van I know that I feel comfortable driving."
Her "How about an H3?"
Me "That has less seats than the minivan."
Her "It seats 5"
Me "Not with car seats it doesn't"
Her "Oh, you need car seats?"
At this point I want to shout "Look, you single childless person. I want the MINIVAN!" She finally did give it to us, but she sure didn't want to. I'm glad we got the van with gas prices as they are. We actually only used 11 gallons of gas with all the driving we did that weekend.
